On Thursday, the Thompsonville Area Revitalization Project hit a major milestone for the new campground! AJ’s Excavating dug three 8-10 foot deep holes to conduct a crucial soil assessment for the future septic field.
Representatives from the DNR Campground Division and the Benzie Leelanau Health Department were on site to oversee the work. This was a critical step to ensure the soil is suitable for the septic system before construction can begin.
The initial report is great news: the sand appears to be suitable for the septic field. While we’re waiting for the final official approval, this is a very promising sign that we’re on the right track.
We are still actively seeking donations to help bring this exciting project to completion. Your support, no matter the size, makes a real difference. Let’s keep digging in and making this a reality!
