On April 1, the Village of Thompsonville, in collaboration with the Thompsonville Area Revitalization Project (TARP), applied for a Michigan DNR Natural Resources Trust Fund Grant. This fund provides grants to local units of government and to the state for acquisition and development of lands and facilities for outdoor recreation or the conservation of natural resources. The funds from this grant would benefit the Thompsonville Junction Trailhead, Visitor’s Center, and the George C. Sharp Campground Improvement Project. The Natural Resources Trust Fund Grant can help turn these visions into a reality, funding projects that enrich our connection with Michigan’s natural beauty and heritage.
The chance to receive a grant of up to $400,000 has attracted 135 applicants, all of which are hopeful to fund many worthy projects across the state. TARP has agreed to match 26% of the amount awarded to the village if they are selected.
Applicants will be notified this fall if they have been chosen as a recipient.
